Latest News::
Auditions are complete for the 2007-08 season. Thanks to all that
tried out. An e-mail was sent to you with the results. If you have
any questions, contact the Director.
Openings: We are looking for the
highest caliber musicians on trumpets, horns, trombones, euphoniums,
tubas and percussion. There are two bands, placement being
determined by audition.
Eligibility: Students must be in
the 8th-12th grades, be accomplished on their instruments, and be
enrolled in their school band program. A commitment to the
dates in the schedule
is also necessary.
Current Members: Members of the 2006-07
season of the TYBB and TYBE are automatically invited to audition
for the 2007-08 bands. The auditions are competitive and placement
in the band is not guaranteed. Make sure you are prepared for the
audition. It is important that the band only accept the highest
caliber of musician available from year to year.
New Members: Students interested in auditioning
to become new members in the TYBB must have a written recommendation
sent to the Director
of the TYBB before you are invited to audition. Recommendations
can be from your band director or private lessons instructor. Auditions
are by invitation only. Invitations will be made after a recommendation
is received. E-mails are OK for the recommendation, but they should
include information about musical ability, responsibility, and character.
Audition Material: Each player
is required to play the prepared solo for their instrument plus
sight reading. There are three excerpts (2 pages). You
must play all three excerpts to be eligible for the Triangle Youth
Brass Band. Play excerpts 1 & 2 for the Brass Ensemble
only. Trumpet,
Horn, Trombone/Baritone,
Tuba,
Percussion (Page
1 & Page
2).
Percussion: You will need to prepare
excerpts for timpani, snare and xylophone. The audition location
will have instruments; you will need to bring your own mallets.
The Bands: The Triangle Youth Brass
Band (TYBB) will accept the 32 most advanced players and will continue
to play on traditional British style instruments with rehearsals
being held Monday evenings from 6:45-8:45 PM. The Triangle
Youth Brass Ensemble (TYBE) will accept nearly 50 players and
rehearsals will be on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 - 8:45
PM. This is an exciting new era for the Triangle Youth Brass
Band Program as we expand to bring in more brass students into the
world of brass banding. Rehearsals for both bands will be
in Cary. Location will be announced ASAP.
